The global automotive aftermarket is projected to exceed $500 billion in 2026. Growth is real — but it doesn’t mean easy money for every distributor.
Distributors are feeling the squeeze. In 2025, LKQ Corp cut its profit forecast twice on softening demand in North America and Europe, and later projected negative organic revenue growth. A McKinsey survey found 65% of aftermarket executives expect margin compression ahead. Rising costs and intensifying competition keep squeezing pricing power across the industry.
Specialty equipment is the exception. According to the 2026 SEMA Market Report, U.S. specialty parts sales reached $52.9 billion in 2025. One in four vehicle owners bought accessories to personalize their vehicles, and more than half of buyers are under 40. Pickup trucks alone made up 30% of sales, with owners spending over $15 billion on modifications.
What this means for distributors: demand is shifting toward fitment-specific products that solve real problems. Distributors who adjust their catalog mix — giving more shelf space to products with less price competition — are the ones finding room to grow.
At Changzhou Tuojue, we design specialty automotive metal parts — console safes, pet fences, and custom accessories — to help distributors build a catalog that stands out.
